Happy tears

The things about motherhood that fill you with the most pride and joy come with the most pain. There are several moments when a child makes a mother cry happy tears. Some such moments are

  • When your baby boy walks across that stage and accepts that diploma that symbolizes his big step through the door of adult hood.
  • When your child finds love, the love we all hope our children find, and say those gentle words, "I do".

All these wonderful, joy filled occasions are also tiny reminders that your baby is growing, needing you less, and going off on his or her own. Is it any wonder why mother cry so many happy tears?

Motherhood is never ending

Being a mother is the most rewarding, most challenging, most painful, most wonderful job known to man. Motherhood is never ending, personally I hope to someday be a 90 year old mother holding my 70 year old son in my lap. It may not be that dramatic, but i do know he will never stop being my baby. When your child is born and you look at the face of this tiny brand new person you know nothing will ever be the same. The way you live, the way you sleep, they very way you think about life will forever be changed. This little perfect person, that you have never met, is now and forever the most important person in you life. This person is now the reason you get up in the morning.

How do you know you are a good mother?

You will see it in your children's eyes, but more importantly, you will see it in their heart.

A good mother is someone who simply cares at all time of day or night and does not belittle their child over mistakes; she helps them see the correct way and explains it to them, helping them get it correct so that they do not get it wrong the next time.

A good mother double checks the student's homework, helps them get it in on time, fixes dinner and enjoys spending time with her children. She loves having something to do and just being around them; she is happiest, then.

A good mother

A good mother is someone who is there when her child needs her, who puts her child's needs above her own; who cares about them, no matter what, who likes simply spending time with them, even when it's nothing special.

A good mother is someone who is willing to be a shoulder to cry on, to stand firm in her child's time of need; to teach them to obey, to believe, to have hope, and to be somewhat carefree.

A good mother is someone who can teach them the responsibility of managing their rent correctly, of juggling their utilities, of going to college and handling a full-time job.

Mothers run the home

As in the words of Amos Bronson Alcott, “Where there is a mother in the home, matters go well.”

Mothers are the ones who run the home, who are in charge of their children, who love to be with them day in and day out. They are the ones who hear of their child's first love; their first crush, their first heartbreak.

They are the ones who hold the hands of their daughters and tell them they are not going to die when they receive their monthly curse; they hold their hands and tell them it's alright and scrape the blood off of the knee. They are the ones who tell them that it's okay to love again after a heartbreak.

A Mother understands what a mom does not say

Mothers are cherished. Mothers are greatly loved; everyone loves their mother-no matter what.

Daughters and mothers closely relate, and mothers and sons can closely relate too. And even when the teen moves into their 'cool' years, as the fights rage on, there is hope beyond the age of rage: they can bond on.

As a Jewish proverb once quoted, “A mother understands what a child does not say.” A mother can tell when her child has had a bad day, when the bully is rough, when someone has been mean and taunting.
