There is no other great feeling than hearing your baby cry for the first time. Your husband kisses your head or your hand and smiles. The doctor hands the baby to a nearby nurse, who wraps the wiggling, red and screaming baby in a blanket. She walks towards you and lays the most precious thing in life in your arms. The range of emotions that plague your body, mind and soul are relentless. You cry, you laugh, you smile, you shake and suddenly you realize that this is what you have been waiting for all your life. You hold in your arms a life created in your body, from pieces of you and your husband, and it is yours. The joy that sweeps through you can compare to nothing that you have experienced until this point.
It is a feeling that you can never explain to your husband, or any man. You can't explain the emotions that feel your body, refusing to let you speak or say anything unless it is to a woman who has already experienced it in their life. Only another mother would ever truly understand what it means to be a mother.
